VoiceMeeter
VoiceMeeter — free virtual audio mixer for Windows 10 and Windows 11. Get it from voicemeeter.xyz.

How to install VoiceMeeter on Windows

Five steps, about ten minutes, one reboot. Applies to Standard, Banana and Potato on Windows 10 and Windows 11; the only difference is which installer build you run and how many outputs you configure afterwards.

DOWNLOAD THE INSTALLER

Step by step

  1. Download. Save VoicemeeterSetup_v2310.zip from the download page. Check the size reads 84 MB before you run anything.
  2. Unzip. Right-click the archive → Extract All. Windows Explorer handles the zip natively; no archiver needed.
  3. Run as administrator. Right-click the installer executable → Run as administrator. Elevation is mandatory: the VAIO virtual audio devices are kernel-mode drivers.
  4. Follow the installer, then reboot. Windows enumerates the new audio endpoints cleanly only after a restart. Skipping the reboot is the single most common cause of “the device is there but silent”.
  5. Assign A1 (and A2). Open VoiceMeeter → menu → System Settings / Options → set A1 to your real speakers or headset. On Banana and Potato set A2 and A3 if you use them. No A1 means no output, no matter what Windows thinks.
  6. Confirm Windows routing. Settings → System → Sound: playback default should be VoiceMeeter Input; recording should list VoiceMeeter Output. Then restart the audio engine from the VoiceMeeter system tray menu.

Uninstall cleanly

  1. Run the VoiceMeeter uninstaller from Settings → Apps.
  2. Reboot.
  3. Device Manager → Sound, video and game controllers → remove leftover VAIO devices if any remain.
  4. Reboot again. Windows rebuilds the endpoint list without the virtual devices.
