VoiceMeeter Banana

The edition most people actually want. Banana splits three hardware inputs and two virtual inputs across three hardware output buses, so game, music, voice chat and your microphone stop competing for one stream. Patchbay routing means any input can reach any output regardless of what Windows calls “default”.

Typical Banana routing

  1. A1 = your headphones or speakers (the thing you actually listen on).
  2. Strip 1 = microphone (WDM or KS input). Route to A1 and to the virtual output your call app reads.
  3. Strip 2/3 = line-in, console or second mic if you have them.
  4. VAIO strip = everything Windows plays by default (game, browser, music). Route to A1 and to the stream bus.
  5. AUX VAIO strip = a second, separate virtual device for voice chat or music so it can be muted independently.

Banana or Potato?

Banana covers 3 hardware inputs, 2 virtual inputs, 3 output buses and VBAN. Potato extends that to 5 hardware inputs, 3 virtual inputs, a multitrack recorder and per-bus inserts. If you do not need to record separate tracks while mixing, Banana is the smaller, faster configuration. Full Potato breakdown.
